A First Aid Kit For Every Adventure - Camping

Sleeping under the stars is a magnificent experience for anyone who goes camping. However, there’s always the chance that something may go wrong while you’re enjoying the great outdoors. Burns, cuts, unpleasant experiences with the local wildlife, and more are all things that could happen. If you’re getting ready for your next camping trip and not sure what kit is right for your adventure, then you’re in luck! Our very own Billy Haley knows precisely what you need.

Billy is My Medic’s director of education, an avid outdoorsman, a former Green Beret medic, a man who’s been saving lives for nearly three decades, and a pro when it comes to everything first aid. With these recommendations and tips, you’ll be confidently exploring in no time!

MyFAK Mini

This first aid kit is small, light, and easy to toss in a pack while still covering you for minor injuries and life-threatening emergencies. Whether you’re staying at your campsite or going on a quick adventure before settling down for the night, this IFAK has got you covered!

MyFAK

If Billy had to pick one ‘generally speaking’ kit, he would recommend the MyFAK. As our flagship kit, it’s incredibly comprehensive and will cover you for both minor and traumatic injuries. Despite containing multiples of several items and packed with gear, it’s still easily portable and not too cumbersome. To make a good thing even better, it has handy items such as a whistle, paracord, glowstick, and more. It’s our Goldilocks kit - not too big and not too small. It’s just right.

Scout

This is our second biggest kit and great for those family and group campouts where you’re driving in and parking where you’re setting up camp. This medical kit has the capacity to easily cover multiple injuries and multiple people.

Adventure Tips

You never know what may happen while you’re camping, so ensure you have the right gear before you even leave the house. Tents, tarps, sleeping bags, flashlights, fire starting materials, and other similar gear are all important things you don’t want to be missing. Make sure to bring plenty of water or camp near a water source and bring some method of purification.

Being familiar with the area you’ll be camping, especially beyond the terrain, can also save you from an unpleasant situation. Avoiding flood areas, knowing what wildlife live in that area, and what the weather forecast is can help you both prepare for your trip and help you avoid trouble. Lastly, let someone know where you’re going and what time you’ll be back. That way, if something does go wrong, that person can notify the authorities and start a search and rescue mission.
